Adrian Friedli, Director of Visual Arts & Literature, Arts Council England, Yorkshire, and Peter Boardman, City of York Council's Cultural Events Manager, highlight the importance of the Last Coiner project to local talent in Yorkshire.
Adrian Friedli says: “Arts Council England is pleased to support Peter M. Kershaw and his new art novel, which will particularly appeal to young people and provides opportunities for them to be involved in creative activities. Our investment in artists is a boost to the local economy, and enables the arts to thrive in this region.”
Peter Boardman says: “The Last Coiner has been a fantastic example of collaborative working between professional artists, educational establishments and heritage bodies. The engagement of students and emerging artists onto the project team has provided them with fantastic opportunities to work alongside established artists on a large-scale regional project and the insight and experiences gained will hopefully serve to inspire and inform them as they further their creative careers. It was a pleasure to be able to suuport the project.”
