His television work includes the legendary I, CLAUDIUS and three series of CADFAEL and more recently THE WYVERN MYSTERY for the BBC. His film career has spanned many years and includes THE DAY OF THE JACKAL, THE ODESSA FILE, HENRY V and HAMLET, both directed by Kenneth Brannagh, and  the box office hit GLADIATOR, directed by Ridley Scott.
